A Wedding in Downtown Los Angeles at the Valentine Room

Let us preface this by saying that Erica and Caleb are the epitome of why we do what we do. We love this industry for so many reasons, but the biggest one is making true connections with people we would have never been able to meet otherwise. From the day that Erica and Caleb inquired with us, we knew that they were going to have a fun, laid-back wedding with lots of flare! Of course, they delivered on just that, and the camera loved them almost as much as we do now. Their wedding day consisted of an incredible venue at The Valentine Room in downtown Los Angeles, a church ceremony that gave us the opportunity for so many amazing shots, and one heck of a party with two of our favorite things — tacos and ramen.

They had the sweetest first look, complete personal vows, Erica crying and shouting “Ew, I’m crying!”, and multiple references to The Office (another one of our absolute favorite things). We decided to skip getting ready photos because they had to be done at separate venues across town, and opted to do the first look at the Valentine Room which has so many incredible spaces. Of course, their dogs had to be included to complete their family shots, and they were so happy and friendly to everyone. Erica and Caleb also opted to focus on more candid moments and skip too many posed group shots, which we love. We decided to do only one set of posed photos of their wedding party using the stripped couches provided by the venue and leave it at that!

The couple opted to do a church ceremony at an incredible cathedral. The upstairs provided the perfect spot to grab photos of Erica while she waited and she totally nailed the vibe. Her blusher veil made the look feel a little dark and moody which matched the deep brown wood and dim light of the space perfectly. Outside we were able to grab stunning shots in the front of the church and really show off the pop of color in the florals and Calebs’ suit, as well as Erica’s huge cathedral train.

Simple, colorful decor brought the reception space to life while the neon sign and disco balls brought some of those more fun elements. The most incredible food was catered, and we both agreed that those were some of the best tacos we had ever eaten and that the watermelon drink was the best drink we’d ever had at a wedding. These two were so giddy the rest of the evening as they partied with their loved ones, performed the greatest first dance lift of all time, and drunkenly devoured ramen noodles together.

Needless to say, these two know how to throw one heck of a party and make everyone feel welcome around them. We are so grateful that Erica and Caleb chose us to document all of these moments of fun and emotion for them, invited us to party, and still text us weekly. We think we’ll keep ahold of these two for life.
